JustaLilBit of You+Me is a biweekly intergenerational conversation on family, health, and community in the lives of Black people.
“Wait, Watch Her!”™ (Formerly Known As “Such A Time As This”™️) celebrates the (re)building and sustainability of sisterhood with Black mothers and daughters. Our primary goal is to reimagine, restructure, and restore the Black mother/daughter dynamic by creating opportunities for intergenerational communication through shared experience.

I truly believe that Jamila’s event was a platform that God used to initiate authentic communication, self-awareness and reflection. It created opportunities to listen, listen, I’ll say it again, listen to the perspectives of your loved ones. It also set the atmosphere for forgiveness, healing and freedom. You did not have to worry about being judged through your role as a mother or daughter or any other title or position you may hold within your community. I was able to gain added strength from Jamila’s personal transparency, the transparency of others and my desire and need for clarification or change. You did not have to be muzzled by fear.
From the moment I walked in, I felt a calmness about everything! I was so excited and inspired that you, in such little time, were able to bless women of different ages and experiences, who appeared to have needed Everything we received! The time spent allowing women and teenagers the opportunity to vent can be unmanageable for many people, but with the questions presented and topics chosen, everything flowed so effortlessly. The praying and laying on of hands was Awesome and so powerful! The willingness to go to the throne on behalf of someone else showed True Sisterhood! It showed the Presence of God! I appreciated being part of something so beautiful!
It was such an honor to be a part of the 2019 JustaLilBit events. Those who were in the room can attest to the fact that change for the better was inevitable. From being able to take an introspective look at self, to extending love through service was all a very transformative experience.
